Newtownabbey Homes Evacuated in Security Alert

Many residents in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, we evacuated from their homes last night after a suspicious object was found near a local church.

Army bomb experts were called to examine the object on Shore road yesterday. The road was closed between the Doagh Road and the M5 roundabout while the Army carried out their work.

The local Valley Leisure Centre was opened as a refuge for the evacuated residents. This follows a similar security alert that took place in the area a week ago. Officials are looking into the matter further.
